Social Barometer

Could Idol have gotten it wrong? According to the Yahoo! Singapore Poll, Singaporeans demonstrated a strong preference for Glenn Ong to join the judging panel in the upcoming Singapore Idol. Some 30% of respondents choose him as a good option for the talent programme. But the radio shock jock didn't make it to the roster! Comedian actor Kumar and singer Kit Chan were also strongly favoured. This was Yahoo! Singapore's most popular poll to date with over 15,000 respondents in just seven days. Perhaps there is time to reconsider? Who would be a good Singapore Idol judge? 15013 votes total 30% 4560 votes: Glenn Ong  4% 639 votes: X'Ho (Chris Ho) 16% 2532 votes: Kumar  4% 644 votes: Sheikh Haikel 14% 2233 votes: Kit Chan  2% 367 votes: Joe Augustin 13% 2045 votes: The Flying Dutchman  1% 279 votes: Suzanne Walker 9% 1430 votes: Jacintha Abisheganaden  1% 284 votes: Rod Monteiro *The poll ran on Yahoo! Tiramisu & Zircon Gov. Pawn Starz , May 29, 2004

May 29, 2004 Esplanade Theatre Backstage Singapore High fashion was the order of the day as -- arguably the best two bands from Singapore right now -- Tiramisu and Zircon Gov. Pawn Starz's appetite for flamboyance ruled the gig with low fashion. Like models, both bands strutted out on stage dressed up from sublime kitsch to lo-fi chic. The colors were a dizzy garish and became irresistibly sexy when married to the charged up music both bands discharged. This was refined irony at its best. Tiramisu opened the show with their raunchy rock n roll that swaggered like Ziggy Stardust, have the sneer that punk rock lost and have more fun than Andy Bell (Erasure) in leotards. The band was led out all in full splendor by their dancer, performance artist/actor Dovan Ong who twinkle-toed around in a pink costume with butterfly wings. Bassist Noor Azlan was in a Shazam superhero outfit, guitarist Jeremy Sharma in Karate Kid red and guitarist Keith Su was styled as a modern Mongolian wa

True Confessions

heyy, heyy, heyy!!! i admit i'm a "late" guy, but, anyway... saw this interview in the 210th issue of "I-S Magazine" (Friday May 21 - June 3 2004)... paiinfully typed out ok - so thank me, fellow fans and friends (and suesue???)... lol... p. 26 Suzanne Walker comes clean - by Terry Ong Watch out: anarchic electro-punk-rock music outfit Zircon Gov Pawn Star--comprising singer-songwriter X'Ho, guitarist Yeow and vocalist-exhibitionist Suzanne Walker a.k.a. Sue-Sue Law--is performing alongside local band Tiramisu at Esplanade--Theatres on the Bay on May 29.     After letting it rip with outstanding live performances at Bar None and Zouk, Zircon promises more of the same for their third live gig. Following their outrageous stage antics and even more outrageous press exposure, I-S gets into the spirit of things with a quickie with Suzanne Walker, as she spills the beans on over-exposure, wardrobe malfunctions and breaking the law. Q & A

hi Y, thanks for the swift reply... good album there... a pity I had to post anonymously cos I got no acct here. btw, any chance of re-releasing the earlier Zircon album on CD? VW can be arranged to be put on CD. What's your email & name?

Q & A

was thinking if there is an 'honest mistake' with your sticker label on the cover when it says there are 12 tracks in Follywood but the listing on the back cover has only 11 tracks. really surprised to hear a 'hidden track' after track 11 when I played the CD. mind telling what is the title for this 'hidden track'? love it love it love it... No that was a surprise track! You found it. It's a Futon Remix called SIngapore F**ker! Our only honest mistake is that we did a typo on the cover!
