Singaporean Punk Rock Group Releases Rebellious Debut Album Zircon Gov. Pawn Starz, the threesome formerly known as Zircon Lounge, recently released their debut album Follywood. Reviews have interpreted the album’s explicit lyrics and risqué content as an attempt to rebel againstSingapore’s restrictive government and loosen up the conservative population. The album is a combination of punk-rock music and anti-establishment sentiments. In songs like "Media Whore" the group attacks pop-stars in Singapore as people that cater to the mainstream without having a mind of their own. This is a gutsy album that parodies the Singaporean national crest on the front cover and flaunts the phrase, “Nu-school f*cker, Singapore f*cker!”

Answers from Enigma

DJ Jeff answers...cheers mate and we promise to TELL IT LIKE IT IS! Also, we will have a small shop at the Esplanade on the 29th to sell our wares. Also the Esplanade Shop sells our CD's. Cheers! well, u can call me 'anonymous' :), or 'enigma' - or whatever... anyway, sorry lah, but i could have sworn that i posted up some comment late last night (or early this morning, depending on how you look at it), but when i saw it again this morn in the office... it was like, gone... I really dunno what happened, but i will give u guys the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the blogger system somehow just dropped it (and if nothing has changed recently, if anybody deletes a comment.., the comment should still be there - except with a "This post has been removed by a blog administrator." - so i guess it's probably just some error on my part - sorry...) > u wanted me to contact u - so here i am. > > the name's Jeffrey - but u can call me 'd

Q & A

Dear Blogger 1. Come for the gig 2. Can drink 3. Can smoke 4. Go home and X Y

Open Letter

Dear Pawn Starz, I have an enquiry to make. During the performance this coming Saturday, I'm aware that there'd be a drink tagged to the cover. However, this question burns inside me and has been running through my mind for a couple of days. The venue inside can smoke one or not ar? If not, like that, "Don't smoke, don't take drugs. Stay at home and just fuck". Korr-lect or not? Yours sincerely (nicotine-addicted), Lounge Lizard

ZIRCON GOV. PAWN STARZ - consists of X'Ho, Suzanne Walker and Yeow. I caught them last April 24, 2004 at Zouk. As i've mentioned earlier, Suzanne was more of screaming her lungs out and she did look horrible in that bikini and greenish hola strings on her hip. But still, i adored because i knew her as elegant, sweet DJ and seeing her live like that made me smiled widely. She sounded better on the CD itself. I could have punch myself to coma because, why in the world didn't i snap X'ho's picture? What is the use of my Nokia 6600? Probably i was too lazy to be down there. Plus the crowd ain't moving. The music is my genre of music. The front cover of the album has Singapore's logo. It is a anti-gov kinda of crap, which i like. i give 4 thumbs to it! Yeah yeah, i like weird people. Like Najib Ali, X'ho, Glenn Ong, Shirley Manson and Suzanne Walker. I find that they are the most 'best' people to admire, adore, role-model and oogle at. Wh

It's one of those moments that make you feel a bit old. For some reason, the stupid and thoroughly fun Midwestern music of my youth (Wax Trax bands such as Ministry, the Revolting Cocks, and the Thrill Kill Kult) has hit Singapore. Sort of. Zircon Gov. Pawn Starz is a threesome of self-confessed "media whores" who make bad music and good t-shirts. They also have tried to adopt a vaguely radical, anti-government position. In an ironic, post-political sort of way. Their new album, Follywood, was released in April. # joshua, Friday, April 30, 2004

Usually, I'm standing too far away from the stage to catch it. We use DJ Traktor to payback the tracks and I play the Yamaha DJX and guitars on top of that. 2) Are you using any software, like ProTools or Project 5 to create the songs? I'm trying to dabble in some recording software but usually, I can't really control it well. : ( We use all kinds of software, my favourite one now is Reason , but I use to use Studio Vision and I'm now getting into Logic . Protools is used later for more the recording of vocals, live instruments and for the final mixdown. 3) Who are those cute chicks you got to promote your CD at Zouk? :P Actually I don't knwo their names but will check with Arief from Boston&Billmann (our management company). Nice outfits huh? Peace. Thks!
